Our History

Preamble

During the 2012 delegates’ conference at Adventist Girls’ Senior High School, Ntonso, it was discussed and voted to reorganize Central Ghana Conference into two Conferences due to the following reasons:

  • Territorial expansion
  • Tremendous membership growth
  • Large size of workforce
  • Financial capability among others.

A committee was set up to look into the modalities. In January 2014, a eleven member sub-committee including Pastors Bobie Danso, Abankwah Amoakohene, Seth Asiedu, Elder Norman Kusi, Elder Gyasi Animhene etc were tasked to further make considerations regarding demarcation, citing of temporal and permanent offices. The committee further recommended to the executive committee that the conference territory was so vast that, three territories would best achieve the needed result of enhancing effective administrative and evangelistic fortunes of the Conference. This recommendation was so laudable that the executive committee voted an amendment into the earlier decision of two territories.

The then North-central Ghana field Unit was accepted to start from Tafo mile 4 sharing boundaries with Mid-Central Ghana conference, Bantama at Tafo Mile 3 Nhyiaeso and stretches to Ejura/Sekyedumasi and Kwamang areasPolitically, it is situated within parts of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Mampong Municipal Assembly and four other districts namely; Kwabre, Sekyere Central, Sekyere South and Ejura-SekyedumaseThe areas covered have been shown in the maps  below:

Citing of the Headquarters

The then North-central Ghana field unit was finally permanently cited at Agona due to the following reasons:

1.      Its central position Agona to serve all the districts.

2.      The fact that Agona was once the headquarters of the entire church in Ghana before moving to Bekwai in 1935 and finally to Kwadaso in Kumasi.

3.      The church in Ghana cannot complete its history without tracing Agona as the fertile land whose soil the church has sprang up in Ghana.
